at least three people have been killed in severe storms down south. a tornado tore through northern alabama. the twister slammed enter a 24-hour day care center, critically injuring four people. there also a church was destroyed. rescue crews right now are sifting through damage and debris. >> sarah: happening today, an emergency meeting is being held to discuss firing the dighton fire chief, who is charged with abusing his clothing allowance. investigators say he used taxpayer money to buy women's clothing. >> nicole: he claims the clothes are for investigators don't believe him. 7's jennifer eagan is live in dighton with more on this meeting to discuss his future. >> jennifer: and, nicole, town officials say that he reportedly tried to... he tried on some of the clothing to try to convince them they were, in fact, for him. they don't believe him. they're going to hold a meeting later today to address this issue. dighton fire chief anton roderick accused of abusing a perk that comes with the job.

that out, wren. >> wren: looks fantastic. i don't think there's any time of the day where pizza and pasta doesn't look good. as we head through the derek our main concerns this morning, areas of dense fog. a dense fog advisory for southern new hampshire and southern vermont and west of worcester county, but we're all seeing some of this fog. you can see visibility reduced largely throughout southern new england. norwood down to under a mile. so this is going to affect morning commutes. allow a little extra time if you are headed further to our west, especially where that dense fog is. right now we're this -- i think we'll even see a couple peeks of morning sunshine. our next round of moisture will push into western massachusetts first and we'll eventually see this potentially by the mid to late morning. a better chance for moisture as we head into the afternoon. then it's going to get soggy as we head into the later afternoon and again commutes tonight more difficult. temperature-wise, minneapolis close to 40 degrees. out to our west, pretty quiet. you can see, though, it's been a different story to the southwest. they've been dealing with some

overnight hours, and actually even a tornado watch, which is letting up early this morning. but there have been sightings of tornadoes in central mississippi, definitely a strong system out that way. we'll see moisture associated with the system to our west, as well that. will push in from our southwest. and you can see these bans of moisture starting to set up by around lunchtime. we could see in they showers, stray showers still not really heavy rainfall. but this does intensify again as we continue into the later afternoon and again evening commute looking very soggy. so where you see tho see moderate to heavy rainfall. we'll have a repeat of what we saw yesterday evening for commutes home from work and we could be dealing with some fog again during all of this. late into tonight and tomorrow morning, we're still seeing that rain, which is going to be pretty heavy at time, but it pushes out of here very quickly. take a look, by 7:00, 8:00, we're drying out and we'll gradually see some sunshine into thursday. today patchy fog mainly after noon and evening rain. highs in the low 50s, upper 40s. showers continue into tonight

tuesday. firefighters from 11 different departments from across the state were honored. members of the lynn fire department were honored after they risked their lives to save dozens of people in a fire last december that claimed four lives. and members of the fitchburg fire department took home top honors for racing to try and save people inside a burning home back in february. governor baker says he's grateful to the firefighters for their bravery. >> they all represent i think in some respects special moments difficult decisions and put themselves in harm's way. and they did so immediately and without hesitation. and in many cases they saved other people's lives as a result. >> sarah: retired state fire marshal shall steven cohen was also recognized her fis service as the longest-serving fire marshal in the state's history. all i have to say is we've been looking at the 2017 boston firefighter's calendar, you guys should check it out. it's all for a good cause. >> nicole: definitely check it out.

break. traffic, though, being diverted. police officers are out here on kneeland telling people to go the other direction, you can only imagine how bad this will get has the morning commute continues to go on into the peak hour. you see people trying to make their way through this. big thing for commuters here as they come into this area. but what you're taking a look at is video from the scenes of the water main break itself at washington. that's where all of this we're hearing traffic is being diverted on the other side of us from harrison all the way up to stewart street. but it's right in front of the area of jaw hoe coffee, if you know that area at all. water main break out there. a huge mess to tell you about. so if you're in the area, and a lot of people will be coming out here, obviously at tufts medical center and children's hospital, people coming into work. so this is something to be aware of if you're in the area. try to avoid it if you can.
